Lent is a time where we pause and take stock of where we are in our prayer lives. We should ask the questions: Have I grown closer to the Lord in the past year? Has my prayer life changed in the past year, past decade, etc.? How much time do I dedicate everyday to speaking with the Lord? We should all desire to grow in our spiritual lives and Lent is the perfect time to do it!
For this reason, during the season of Lent I will be offering a series on prayer and on growing in relationship with the Lord. This series will involve six sessions that focus on a different aspect of prayer and on the spiritual life. The series will follow video lectures by Dr. Tim Gray, entitled “Prayer: Finding Intimacy with God”, which is found on FORMED. These videos will lead into a discussion on the Catholic understanding of prayer, of what it means to grow in the spiritual life, and how to do this.
This course will take place on Wednesday evenings at 7:15pm in the parish hall at St. Patrick and everyone from both St. Charles and St. Patrick are invited to attend. The first session will be held on Wednesday, March 4th. In order to gauge interest, we are asking that you please indicate whether this is a course you would be interested in attending. Sign up sheets will be available at both St. Charles and St. P atrick. It is also possible to register online by going to the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SBRN37R. No commitment is required right now, as we are simply trying to get an estimate of what attendance might look like. Please prayerfully consider making this course a part of your Lenten spiritual life. Please also feel free to email me with any questions at: MJakupco@dol-in.org.
